It’s hard to imagine that Behaviour Interactive, the developers behind Dead by Daylight, could keep knocking it out of the ballpark, time after time. Yet, that’s precisely what they’re able to do.
Over the last couple of years, they’ve introduced over 30 killers to everyone’s favourite nightmare-inducing thrill ride. While some of these killers have been original, many are adapted from the classic horrors I first fell in love with.
Now, in another move that no one expected but everyone can appreciate, the latest killer to join the Dead by Daylight roaster is none other than Charles Lee “Chucky” Ray – everyone’s favourite friend to the end.
Chucky joining the game is a surprising move from Dead by Daylight, partly due to the character’s iconicly short height. He is a doll, after all, and it seems ridiculous to have a killer who isn’t even tall enough to see over the grass he’s chasing players through – however, this makes the character so incredibly interesting and significant.
Chucky will be the first killer exclusively played from the third-person view, allowing the player the same field of view as a typical killer while still leveraging Chucky’s innate stealth advantage.
The way this is explained through the lore is that, technically, players are looking at Chucky from the eyes of the spirit possessing him. This spirit will stand in for actions unsuitable for a doll that thinks the bottom draw is the tall shelf, like picking up Survivors and hanging them on hooks.
Players like me who can’t wait to take Chucky for a spin will be able to from the 28th of November when the character goes live.
