Never before has there been as epic a search as there has been for the seemingly elusive cow level in Diablo 4. From day one, gamers have been combing through every nook, cranny and far corner, hoping to find anything that would lead them right, but to little success.
Even the developers have previously spoken out, urging players to stop on their fruitless quest and calling the level little more than a …cowspiracy.
However, during BlizzCon 2023, some hints were dropped, and while the cow level wasn’t straight out confirmed, the team did say that players were on the right track and even added:
“I will say, however, if people have picked up any items from their cow campaigns… cow slay-age campaign… they should hang on to them.”
For those who find this statement puzzling, the cow items referred to are the Bloody Wooden Shard, Musky Tome, and Metallic Fragment. These are items earned by slaying three sets of 666 cows, with your final kill being in distinct regions.
Each set of almost hamburgers will end with one of the relics being dropped. When players have all three, they will be rewarded with a key for Forlorn Hovel, where they will discover 28 random and super sus looking cows.
