The Legend of Zelda Live-action Movie in the Works

You read that right: Nintendo is working on a live-action movie for The Legend of Zelda after their hugely popular release of The Super Mario Bros.

An official statement was released on the Nintendo Japan website stating most of the details.

Partnering with Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. to both co-fund and distribute the film, The Legend of Zelda live-action movie will be produced by Nintendo and Arad Productions Inc.

Avi Arad, the Chairman of Arad Productions, has worked on countless movies in the past, mainly those with a superhero nature, from Daredevil in 2003 to more recent films like Venom, Uncharted and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

With such an impressive rap sheet, and the official backing, and co-producing from Nintendo’s own Shigeru Miyamoto, there is hope that The Legend of Zelda movie will deliver. However, most people are still sceptical about turning digital or animated works into live-action.

Wes Ball, director of the Maze Runner trilogy of movies, seems to have been chosen for director on this project as well.

With not much more than the official statement to go on and “it will take time until its completion” from a post on Nintendo’s X account, all we get to do now is speculate who, what, where and when.

Have you got any ideas of who you think would be cast as the actors and actresses in the film? Let us know in the comments below.
