According to Capcom’s latest financial report, they have an Ace up their sleeve that’ll get them to 45 million console units sold before the financial year ends in March next year.
Picked up by some fans over on ResetEra, during the Q and A section of the report, Capcom mentioned the unannounced title twice.
Q: How do you plan to achieve the sales goal for new titles for this financial year?
A: In the second half of this FY, we plan to release Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy in January in addition to a currently unannounced major title. Moreover, we plan to boost the sales figures of new titles of the first half of this FY to achieve the target.
Q: How do you think of the sales goal of 45 million copies of console titles? Taking into account the first half of this FY, wouldn’t it be difficult to achieve it?
A: We are planning a major title in the second half of this FY. Additionally, we originally planned to achieve the goal mainly by focusing on sales events in the second half of this FY to boost the sales figures of our catalogue titles.
It seems like they’re saving it for the second half of the financial year, so we’re likely to see it announced and released in the early parts of 2024.
Taking into consideration that March 2024 will be the 20th anniversary of the Monster hunter franchise, most fans are suggesting that the unannounced title will be the next Monster Hunter game. However, there are some who are hopeful that it will be something from Resident Evil.
The press release on the financial results for the first half of the year shows a 50% increase in sales numbers compared to the same period from last year for Capcom. Currently sitting at 22.6 million units sold means that whatever the unannounced title may be, it’s going to have to sell quite well to hit that 45 million unit goal.
