By now, you should know that when we spot new Lego sets, we absolutely have to tell you all about them. This new one from Dune features an Orthinopter and a host of the characters from the film.
The characters included in the set are Duncan Idaho, Paul Atreides, Lady Jessica, Gurney Halleck, Chani, Leto Atreides, Liet Kynes and Stellan Skarsgård’s Baron Harkonnen. The Baron figure includes his exceptionally long robe from his hover scene in the first part of the latest film.
While the Baron’s fashion may attract a lot of attention, my favourite part of the set has to be the Orthinopter.

With its wings open, the build is 80cm wide and 56cm long, making it one heck of a showpiece.
The team behind the design mentioned they took a different approach to the Orthinopter. For this build, they started with the piece’s functionality and then worked backwards from there, gathering all the pieces they would need to make it work.

Along with its retractable landing gear, the wings both fold into the body, and they have a flap button that can be used to flap the wings when they are out. The cockpit opens up, and the seats slide out so that you can easily pop a pilot minifigure into them as well.
The set will cost you around R3,000 and is available for pre-order now. Lego will start shipping from the 1st of February next year.
