The WW2 Tactical Stealth Game: Commandos is Getting a Prequel

Commandos was the absolute definition of a stealth tactics game back when it was released 25 years ago. I distinctly remember trying to tackle that lighthouse mission, yes, the very first mission, at least 50 million times, trying to figure out the best possible way of completing all the objectives. Commandos is probably the reason why I enjoy tactical RPG games as much as I do. Now, the teams at Kalypso and Claymore Games have decided that we need more than just a remaster; we need a new Commandos game.

Commandos: Origins will take players back to the World War II era of elite, tactical warfare, where some missions are just too important to entrust to a squadron of rookies. With five other squad members under the command of Jack O’Hara, The Green Beret, you will need to utilise all their individual skills to work through your objectives and hopefully keep that dreaded alarm silenced.

Thomas “the Sapper” Hancock, Francis T. “the Sniper” Woolridge, Samuel “the Driver” Brooklyn, James “the Marine” Blackwood, and Rene “the Spy” Duchamp, will be featured in your squad. As you can see, each soldier has a special set of skills that will need to be used to succeed in the mission.

The game will be set before the original series, where we will see how and why the team was formed.

Claymore Games have given the game a facelift regarding graphics, but they promise to keep the style the same as the games we were brought up on to pay homage.

With nothing but a trailer and the year ‘2024’ to go off of, I guess it gives me some time to get my guns as big as Saregeant O’Hara before Commandos: Origins officially releases.
