The Pokemon Company Does Live Action a Little Differently

Many of us have been brought up alongside Ash Ketchum and his never-ending (well, up until recently) journey of becoming “the very best like no one ever was”.

A new Japanese show, PokéTsume, made by The Pokémon Company, has just released its first trailer.

The show is a live-action twist on the typical Pokémon content we are used to. Unlike Detective Pikachu, which took place in the actual Pokémon world, PokéTsume will be set in our very own reality. Following a young lady who has just graduated from University, we will be taken through her journey of managing the harsh and not very dream-like adult working world.

After being sent a package from her mother containing a Gameboy Pocket and a copy of Pokémon Red, Madoka Akagi realises she can use the lessons learnt from one of her fondest childhood games in the real world.

While the trailer is entirely in Japanese, without any subtitles, it’s pretty easy to see the premise of the series. Plus, who needs any words when that theme song from the game kicks in and gets your heart rate up to 180 anyway?

The show will go live in Japan on the 19th of October, and I’m pretty sure subtitled versions will be released shortly after.

You can check out the original trailer release from the PokéTsume X account below.

Or if you want the screen filled with subtitles, a fan-made version of the trailer is available too.
