9 Brand New Free Games On Steam Right Now

If you’re a PC gamer searching for new games to play, but October has already taken its toll on your wallet, don’t fear. Steam currently has nine new and free games available to download and play. It’s that easy.

The wide variety of games on offer covers multiple genres. The beauty is that even if they don’t seem like the type of game you’d normally spend your hard-earned money on, they are free to download and see how you feel about them.

So, without further ado, here are nine free games that you can download and play right this second, for free, on Steam:

StormEdge: Wind of Change

One of the highest-rated games on this list is StormEdge: Wind of Change, the first chapter of StormEdge, an action co-op roguelite adventure.

Players must dodge enemies’ attacks, trigger deadly traps, and explore the captivating tale of Elemental Storms’ origins.

The game features a unique cool-down-free combat system and full controller support. Still, according to the reviews, the real beauty is in how enjoyable the game feels and how stunning the pixel art is.

Metaball

Metaball is a game that dropped into Early Access on the 21st of September and almost instantly rose to a Mostly Positive review rank on Steam.

It’s a free-to-play online multiplayer sports game with crossplay-enabled. It’s loosely based on the rules of Basketball, and it combines fast-paced movements, thrilling ranked matches, and advanced team play.

Using hoverboards, players will need to grab the ball using a chain and then use it to unlock various actions and abilities.

The game seems like absolute chaos and includes various modes like quick match, ranked, or private.

Every Letter

Every Letter has some great reviews on Steam, with almost everyone who played the game giving it props for creating a meaningful experience they didn’t expect.

It’s a single-player game with a simple premise. Players will be writing letters with a typewriter on behalf of others.

These letters can be everything from love letters and scripts to simple check-ins. As players write these letters, they will uncover intertwining stories told through various clients’ letter requests.

Drunk Or Dead 2: Prologue

Drunk Or Dead 2: Prologue is a VR-only game where players will choose one of four characters and then have to survive by shooting wave after wave of zombies.

However, what sets this game apart from the plethora of other zombie wave-shooters around is the importance of alcohol.

Alcohol is used to heal the characters and intoxicate them, bringing out multiple ridiculous effects.

In Drunk Or Dead 2: Prologue, players will get a demo of Drunk or Dead 2, a full campaign-based VR adventure for up to four players.

Plant Therapy

Plant Therapy is the perfect game for those wanting to zone out and relax. It’s a cosy style plant collecting game where players will turn their New York City apartment into a lush and tropical wonderland.

Players can also care for their plants in various ways, including watering them, repotting, naming and upgrading their tools such as their watering can – all while listening to the game’s relaxing soundtrack.

The game has positive reviews, with almost everyone mentioning how satisfying it was despite its simplicity and also how much charm the game has.

King of Crabs

King of Crabs is a game with one simple premise: fight to become the king of the crabs.

It’s an intense real-time multiplayer game that will see up to 100 players trying to explore and conquer an island while scavenging and slaughtering their way through waves of crabs.

The game includes modes for PVE, PVP iO style, Battle Royale, and Team. It even has Daily Special Events for players to participate in.

Pathless Woods: Prologue

Pathless Woods: Prologue is the intro to Pathless Woods, and it lets players team up with friends and enjoy the first several days of the game.

Pathless Woods: Prologue will give players a taste of the survival, exploration, construction, and farming that the full game will boast and let them build their dream home while defending it against marauders and more.

To keep things interesting, each new game presents new biomes for players to explore and the early reviews credit the game for being incredibly promising with a lot of variety.

Soul’s Spectrum: Awakening

Soul’s Spectrum: Awakening is a free prequel to Soul’s Spectrum, a game where death is not the end; instead, it’s the key to progress.

Each time players die, their soul transforms, and they get new abilities to help them overcome the challenges that lie ahead. This time around, players will embark on a journey set before the original storyline that reveals the mysterious events before the main game.

The reviews for the game have been pretty good, with many complimenting the mechanics and challenging moments despite the game’s short length.

Minute A Tinker’s Tale

Minute A Tinker’s Tale is a game developed as a student project at DigiPen Institute of Technology. It was released on the 29th of September to favourable reviews, with many citing its good execution and whimsical premise.

In a Tinkerer’s workshop set in the Victorian Age, players will take on the role of a wind-up toy named Tink in a single-plater 3D action platformer.

Experience a whimsical tale of courage, discovery, and self-growth while adventuring through the maze of whirling cogs and ticking clocks while honing combat skills to challenge the mischievous adversaries who stand in players’ way.

If any of these games excite you, head to Steam and add them to your library today. And go!
