As I write this, the giant update for Cyberpunk 2077, update 2.0, is being rolled out worldwide – and from what CD Projekt Red has said, it’s set to change up the entire game.
The update will introduce a complete revamp of the police, a progression overhaul, a new cybernetics system, vehicular combat, and DLSS 3.5.
It’s a big update and completely separate from the first and final expansion, Phantom Liberty, meaning everyone who owns the base game will receive the update for free.
Because of all the changes the update will introduce, CD Projekt Red recommends players start the game from scratch to experience it instead of continuing from an existing save.
Hey, chooms! While you’ll be able to continue the game with your current character on an existing save, we recommend starting a new game after @CyberpunkGame Update 2.0. Due to the number of changes, starting fresh will enhance your overall gameplay experience! pic.twitter.com/rqdokahhAg

Players who intend to dive into Phantom Liberty next week don’t need to be scared of starting over, either. Once players have completed the Arasaka heist, they’ll be on course to follow the main quest to Pacifica, where the next expansion content will start.
Update 2.0 will be the final big update for Cyberpunk 2077, and Phantom Liberty will be the only expansion, so you might as well start over to experience the game in the best state it will ever be.

It’s also worth noting that the minimum requirement for the game has been changed, and both Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty will require you to be rocking an SSD to play.
“The changes to the minimum requirements are a reflection of our new standard of requirements, which we believe better represent the minimum PC configuration required to run the game at 1080p, while maintaining an average of 30 FPS at low preset.
The reason for making these changes is that updating the requirements is an important part of the game improvement process, and of enhancing and adding new features.”
Attention players! The upcoming @CyberpunkGame Update 2.0 will bring exciting changes to the game, including the updated system requirements. We’d like to remind you that the new update of the game will only support SSDs. Don’t forget to check if your PC meets the new… pic.twitter.com/gmQ8T2yi4Q
