Skull And Bones Has Lost Its Third Creative Director

And just like that, the already troubled open-world pirate game from Ubisoft, Skull and Bones, has lost its third creative director, and things don’t look to be turning around for the upcoming game any time soon.

When the game was initially announced with a release date of 2018, fans were excited. From what was shown, Skull and Bones looked to be inspired by the naval battles in the fan-favourite Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.

However, since then, the game has suffered setback after setback until 2020, two years after its initial release date when it was announced that the game would be moving forward with a new vision, and PlayStation started to issue refunds to all who preordered the ill-fated game.

And now, after a highly lacklustre reception to a recent open beta event, Elisabeth Pellen, the game’s third creative director, has stepped down.

Elisabeth Pellen has been with the development team since 2018. Still, in the wake of Ubisoft announcing the cancellation of four upcoming projects back in July, she has decided to jump ship, so to speak.

Skull and Bones was one of only a few Ubisoft games showcased during the Ubisoft Forward event. While enthusiasm for the title has died among those who were once excited about it, it doesn’t seem Ubisoft intends to pull the plug on the project anytime soon.

Skull and Bones is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S and has a release date of sometime in 2024.
