Red Faction Developers; Volition, are Shutting Down “Effective Immediately”

Just days after seeing the Saints Row reboot pop up as one of the free games to claim on PlayStation Plus, we hear that Volition Studios is closing down.

Earlier in the year, we wrote about the Embracer Group having to do a little “restructuring” thanks to a $2 billion deal that fell through and it looks like that restructuring is starting to take place.

According to a LinkedIn post from Volition themselves, they have been shut down “effective immediately”.

Their most recent game, the Saints Row reboot, took on quite a mixed outlook from gamers all over, which obviously affected the Embracer restructure. NAG scored it 65/100. Volition is also responsible for a few older games that you might remember. The studio has been around since the mid-90s and has created games such as Freespace and Red Faction.

The Embracer Group has confirmed that they still have the Red Faction and Saints Row franchises under their belt even though Volition is going out of business.
