Vice President of Writing at Rockstar is Leaving

As everyone sits on the edge of their seats, expecting some GTA VI news to be coming out of Rockstar Games, we find out that the Vice President of Writing at the company is leaving.

While not yet confirmed by Rockstar Games themselves, according to Michael Unsworth’s LinkedIn profile, his time at Rockstar has ended after sixteen years.

Michael has worked on most of the games that Rockstar has put out in the last decade or so, including both Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 as well as GTA IV, GTA V and GTA Online. He’s also spent some time on L.A. Noir and Max Payne 3.

Rockstar Games have now lost both Michael Unsworth and Dan Houser, two high-level writers at the company, and with no real news of GTA VI yet, it does have me a little on edge. A silver lining, at least, is that GTA VI is not listed on Michael’s profile of games that he has worked on, but that could just be some NDA business going on while the game is still under development.

What are your thoughts on Rockstar losing its writers one by one? Does it have you worried for GTA VI, or are you still confident that after a decade, they’ll still be able to release a cracker of a game? Let us know in the comments below.
