Samsung Is Working On A Portable Projector With Built-in Cloud Gaming

Samsung Freestyle Gen 2 Will Feature Built-in Cloud Gaming

Samsung has been working on an update to its Freestyle projector, turning it into a portable cloud gaming device, offering up to 100 inches of high-definition screen space.

The Freestyle Gen 2 comes with Samsung’s Gaming Hub, giving users access to numerous gaming apps like Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nvidia’s Geforce Now, and Amazon Luna.

Over the last few days at the NAG office, we’ve had some deep debates about cloud gaming. While the team is still split on its place in South Africa, it’s an exciting step to the future. And playing games on the go without needing a box or even a screen is an excellent move in the right direction.

The Freestyle Gen 2 projector outputs 1080p with a refresh rate of 60Hz. The screen size can be adjusted from 30- to 100 inches, depending on the projection surface. The projector also has a peak brightness of 230 ANSI Lumen, provided you have a nice dark place to use it.

From the available product shots, the Freestyle Gen 2 doesn’t appear to have an ethernet port, meaning users must reply on their Wi-Fi connection.

The Samsung Freestyle Gen 2 with Gaming Hub will be available from the 1st of September and retail for roughly R15,000.
