Calling Rick and Morty a cult classic is almost a disservice to the animated masterpiece. However, all good needs to come with bad, and as funny as Rick and Morty are on screen, its behind-the-scenes have been filled with chaos and drama – and not the funny kind.
For those who might not remember, a while back, Rick and Morty co-creator and voice actor Justin Roiland was fired from the show leaving many wondering what would happen in his absence.
Now, thanks to executive producer Steve Levy, we finally have some insight:

“The work that we’re doing across the board has only gotten better. When the new season comes out, we’ll focus on how amazing it all turned out. We hope the fans will realize that this is the same old show, maybe even better!
We had a rug pulled from underneath us. The only people we could lean on were each other. It would have been very easy to just say, ‘I’m done and I don’t want to do anything with this show anymore.’ But our crew said, ‘No, we’re not going to let one person drag down all of our hard work.'”
This show is created by this team — this family of incredibly hardworking people, and we are going to push through and show the world that we aren’t going to miss a beat. The work that we’re doing across the board has only gotten better. When the new season comes out, we’ll focus on how amazing it all turned out. We hope the fans will realize that this is the same old show, maybe even better!”
As of now, Rick and Morty Season 7 still needs a release date, and Justin Roiland’s voice acting replacement has also not been announced.
What do you think the future of the franchise will look like? Let us know in the comments.
