EA Shutting Down Even More Of Their Servers

EA Shutting Down More Game Servers

As older games lose their ability to generate revenue, EA is shutting down the servers of many older yet still beloved titles. Much to the dismay of the dedicated audiences that still play those games. It seems that EA is right back at it with a new wave of game servers being taken offline.

The latest game servers that were given the axe are Dead Space 2, Crysis 3, Dante’s Inferno and Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. According to EA, this server shutdown is happening because less than 1% of peak online players across all EA titles were playing these games, meaning it’s no longer feasible to keep supporting them.

Thankfully, most games canned this time are single-player titles, and the lack of dedicated servers will still render the game playable.

However, online-type features like leaderboards and multiplayer modes will no longer run. What are your thoughts on EA culling some of their older servers? Let us know in the comments.
