PlayStation 5 Might Be Getting A Previously Mobile-Exclusive Feature Soon

Over the last year, PlayStation gamers have had the chance to unlock a plethora of collectables using Sony’s PlayStation Stars program, and they will now be able to display these unlockables as PlayStation Stars integration looks to be headed to PlayStation 5.

Until now, this feature was exclusive to Sony’s PlayStation App, and by engaging with this free loyalty program, players can earn points, buy products and unlock collectables by either buying or playing various PlayStation games.

According to a report posted on TwistedVoxel, an upcoming PlayStation 5 update will integrate the PlayStation Stars functionality directly into the PlayStation 5. If true, this means that gamers can access the loyalty program on their console rather than requiring them to use a separate mobile app.

There is merit to this report, as console integration was something that’s been long-promised by Sony and would make sense as the rollout of the loyalty program came roughly a year ago.

According to the report, when the update rolls out, gamers can access the new functionality through the PlayStation 5’s Privacy Settings menu, where they can customise what information they want to share with others about their membership.

Gamers will have the option of showing off their loyalty status as well as displaying any collectables they’ve earned during their time with the program.

That’s all we know about the rumoured integration, so we’ll have to wait and see if and how it all pans out.
