Revealed over four whole years ago, Project L, the 2v2 team-based fighting game from Riot is almost ready to show its face to the world.
Thanks to a new developer diary and gameplay trailer that was released in the early hours of this morning, fans finally have more to be excited about when it comes to Project L and those attending the upcoming Evo 2023 fighting game tournament will even get to play it.

In the developer diary the game’s director, Shaun Rivera explained:
“Duo play works a bit like tag-team wrestling. One player controls the champ on stage and the other waits offscreen for their teammate to find the right moment to tag them in.”
But there’s more to the game than just waiting to be swapped in, according to Shaun Rivera, Project L’s mechanics are designed to encourage teamwork, sharing in victories, defeats, performing combos together, or saving your partner in a clutch moment.
We also now know that although team play is the focus, Project L will support 1v1, 2v2, and 2v1 matchups.
The developer diary also showcased Project L’s Fuse system, powerups that will impact how fighters play together.
A playable build of Project L, a game that is yet to receive its official name, will be available to play at Evo 2023 in Las Vegas from the 4th to the 6th of August so we will likely be hearing more about the upcoming game then.
