Life By You is a game we’ve spoken about a few times before. It’s in development at Paradox Interactive with Rod Humble, who was the head of the Sims for years, and it aims to be an open-world game to out-sim the Sims.
Players in Life By You will take direct control of in-game avatars, and two of the game’s biggest draws are its use of real-language conversations and customisation tools to allow for unparalleled levels of storytelling.
Unfortunately, an ambitious title like this, which wants to become competition for The Sims, doesn’t come together overnight and the early access release planned for September this year has now been pushed back to the 5th of March, 2024.

In a statement released by Paradox, they had this to say:
“The additional time gives the development studio, Paradox Tectonic, the ability to improve the game’s visuals and UI. These improvements will not only affect the overall look and feel of the game but will make it a more well-rounded experience for players.
Paradox Tectonic will also be fine-tuning mod tools that will be available at launch for all players to explore and create. The entire concept of Life by You is that the player community will bring the game to life and as such, community feedback will be core to many of the changes coming to Life by You’s Early Access.

In the video released talking about the delay, Rod Humble said that a preview of Life By You’s updated interface will be shared later this week, as will a blog post with more detail on the planned changes.
Because of the release date change, all pre-orders of Life by You on the Epic Games Store will be refunded.
