Bad news for fans of Ubisoft’s action-adventure game Immortals Fenyx Rising, as recent reports strongly suggest that the planned sequel for the game has been cancelled.
On launch, Immortals Fenyx Rising was far from the hit that Ubisoft intended it to be. Still, in the times since then, the game has managed to retain a core audience in love with the game’s charm and action-packed adventure.
A report from VGC states that multiple developers have confirmed a sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising was in early development at Ubisoft. However, the project was cancelled in early June thanks to challenges around establishing the IP.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Immortals Fenyx Rising faced challenges. When the game was first announced at E3 2019, it went by the name Gods and Monsters and by the time the game was released, not only did it have a new name, but the project had also been significantly reworked and now boasted a far more casual and humorous project than what was initially announced.
The change in direction and tone led many to question if it was even the same game which undoubtedly played a part in its lacklustre reception at launch.
In January of this year, Ubisoft announced it would refocus its development resources on its most prominent brands, like Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and various Tom Clancy shooters.
