It’s hard to believe that Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag was released in 2013 and is already ten years old. Still, it’s even harder to believe the game just received a new update for PC players to download.
Assassin’s Creed 4 update 1.08 is available for PC gamers to download right now, and it fixes an issue that PC players have had for a while now where the game will launch in windowed mode regardless of settings.
If this sounds like a minor issue, it is, which makes it all the stranger that Ubisoft has decided to address the problem instead of ignoring it, but it also shows the love and care they have for their decade-old title.

There is also something to be said about Ubisoft’s dedication to keeping the Assassin’s Creed franchise alive by porting almost all of the franchise’s games to modern platforms, with the only glaring exception being the original Assassin’s Creed, which only lives on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
Ubisoft is still hard at work on new titles for the franchise, with Assassin’s Creed Mirage releasing later this year, an Assassin’s Creed VR game in the works and an open-world Assassin’s Creed set in feudal Japan coming soon.
