Fable’s Narrative Lead Steps Down

We all saw the new Fable announcement, right? I mean if you didn’t it was probably because you took some sort of self-imposed break from the internet. It features the comedian Richard Ayoade and has a great modern twist on classic fairy tales, right up the Fable road we all know and love.

Well, just one month after the announcement the narrative lead, Anna Megill, is stepping down. In a tweet on her private account, Anna announced that she will be “stepping away from her role as Narrative Lead on Fable” from August.

She goes on to mention that Playground has managed to create a “heroically talented” team that she seems to believe can carry on the project without her. She says that she is taking a bit of time for herself before she returns swinging in October.

Before everyone gets into a tizz though, Anna goes on to mention that she has left Fable at a “good stopping point”. No bad vibes or anything other than needing some time to reset before she gets busy again.

Anna also worked on games like Control and assisted with the new Avatar game coming this year. She’s also released a book titled “The Game Writing Guide” and is in the process of releasing another called “The Pocket Mentor for Video Game Writers”.

It all seems quite calm compared to recent step-downs in the past, so I’m confident that we’ll still get the Fable we’ve all been waiting for.
