Battalion 1944 Refunding All Kickstarter Backers

Bulkhead Interactive, the developers behind the Battalion 1944 campaign on Kickstarter, announced that they would be issuing refunds to every one of their 10,000 backers who supported the game on the crowdfunding platform.

Battalion 1944 is a multiplayer first-person shooter set during World War 2 and is heavily inspired by games like Medal of Honor and Call of Duty.

In 2016, over 10,000 backers contributed to the Kickstarter campaign to bring Battalion 1944 to life. In total, the project raised over £300,000, which is well over 7 million rand.

These funds enabled Bulkhead to launch Battalion 1944 in early 2019 on PC; however, despite having a successful launch, the game rapidly lost popularity, the promised console ports never ended up getting released, and Bulkhead ended support for the game.

Now, Bulkhead has been acquired by Splash Damage. As part of the acquisition, the decision has been made to issue refunds to all Kickstarter backers.

In a video posted on Twitter, Bulkhead stated it would be refunding all Kickstarter pledges from its 2016 campaign. These refunds would be offered to every backer, regardless of their platform of choice or contribution tier.

The video also included an apology by Bulkhead and thanks to those who backed the Battalion 1944 Kickstarter and supported the game through the years.

Bulkhead has not announced its next project but has been working with Splash Damage on Transformers Reactivate.
