What Something To Play This Weekend? Epic Games Store Has A Free Game Waiting For You

Get Grime Free on Epic Games

It’s Friday, so it’s time to dust off that controller, swivel that gaming chair and settle down to binge some games. As usual, Epic Games Store delivers a great free game to make your gaming weekend just that much better.

For those of you who don’t already know, every Thursday or sometimes Friday, Epic Games makes a new game, or sometimes when you’re good, two games are available for gamers to download and add to their libraries for free.

All gamers need to do to grab this gift from the gods for themselves is log into their Epic account, redeem the game or games on offer and add it to their library. Whatever you’ve redeemed is then yours to keep, to play or to add to an ever-growing list of games you mean to play but probably never will.

Epic is offering up Grime for players to grab this week until the 13th of July.

Grime is a great game that we reviewed on launch last year. At the time, we had this to say about it:

Grime perfectly toes the balance between being challenging and enjoyable. Even during the worst parts where I kept falling to my death repeatedly or dying to the same boss multiple times, I never felt the urge to rage quit and never come back.

Grime always feels impossible until it’s not anymore, and then you’re just left feeling like the god you’ve always known yourself to be.

Grime is, at its core, a 2D souls-like take on Metroidvania. Instead of you losing everything you’ve collected when you die, Grime is there to catch you when you fall, and lets you keep everything you had on you.

This simple change to a familiar formula creates a feeling of encouragement that made me want to continue playing no matter how many times I had to repeat an area.

If Grime sounds like the game for you, head to the Epic Games Store and add the game to your library before the 13th of July, when the next free game goes live. If you want to read our full review of the game first, you can follow the link here.
