Anime Expo or Sardine-Con?

The self-titled “largest anime expo in the United States”, Anime Expo, was so packed that some people are calling it “Sardine-con”.

The expo, which ended just the other day, featured a host of voice actors, artists and world premiers for new anime coming soon. One such premier was Suicide Squad Isekai, which you can read about here. But the expo also featured indoor crowds so large the attendees could barely walk and a “half-mile” long line outdoors, in 27 degree weather, just to find the actual line.

Of course, this is a complete safety hazard, and if anything were to go wrong while at the expo things could only get worse, but the more I watch these crazy videos the more hyped I get for our own, local expos.

Comic Con Johannesburg will take place this September and, of course, rAge will be preparing us all for our December vacation and I just can’t wait. I do hope that I don’t get suffocated, but I’m sure the team that’s been behind these expos will make sure we’re kept alive, mostly.
