That Court Case Might’ve Leaked the Price for the PS5 Slim

Well whaddya know, another bit of information that we probably should not have known so soon has been released into the public domain due to the ongoing court case between the FTC and Microsoft.

Although, this time it’s more of a speculation than an actual fact, I’m pretty sure Microsoft knows what they are doing and can roughly guess the cost of Sony’s PS5 Slim console.

Turns out, it’s $399, that’s around R7,500. How close was your guess? Of course, that’s just a direct conversion and doesn’t include importing and all the rest of it all, so we’re probably looking at a PS5 Slim console coming in at around R10,000 or so, at least that’s my guess.

The direct quote from the document reads “PlayStation likewise sells a less expensive Digital Edition for $399.99, and is expected to release a PlayStation 5 Slim later this year at the same reduced price point”. So not only are they guessing the price of the Slim edition of the console, but also that we should see it later this year.

Microsoft is also claiming that Sony will release a “handheld version of the PS5 for under $300”. We’ve already seen the Project Q announcement from Sony so there might be some more weight behind these words than we think.

We do need to remember though, that Microsoft is trying to paint themselves as feeble as possible at this stage as they attempt to convince the FTC that the Activision buyout won’t make as much of an impact on the gaming community as everyone else says it will.

What do you think about these prices? Would you pay R10,000 for a new PS5 Slim console?
