Skyblivion is Two Years From Release

If you’re an Elder Scrolls fan, you would’ve definitely heard of Skyblivion; if you haven’t, it’s essentially a team of superfans that have volunteered their time to completely rebuild The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion as a mod for Skyrim.

An absolutely mammoth task, re-creating a game as a mod. If the team at TESRenewal are to get it past the courts, they’ll either need to use objects already in the Skyrim game or create everything from the ground up. Considering they have been at it since 2016, you can only imagine the amount of hours poured into this mod.

Recently, TESRenewal uploaded a video to their YouTube page where they finally announced a release year and updated the community on how far they have come. They are planning to release the full Oblivion base game mod in 2025, that’s still two years from now, so they still have quite a lot to get done, but they are hoping that more of the community will jump on board to help create this masterpiece.

After watching the video, you get a glimpse at how much work actually goes into creating a game, and these guys are just rebuilding one that already has a story and assets to copy. Imagine having to do it all from scratch on a scale this large.

The team also said that while they plan to tackle the Oblivion DLCs, they will focus on getting the base game out to the community as a complete ‘game’ before looking at the rest of it.

With Bethesda currently focused on Starfield and with The Elder Scrolls VI still in ‘pre-production’, Skyblivion could just be the next Elder Scrolls game to keep its fans happy.
