Xbox has just announced what is potentially the pinkest crossover yet, thanks to its collaboration with Barbie. To promote the upcoming Barbie movie, Xbox users will notice some cool pink things coming to the console and its games.
Xbox is no stranger to collaborations, and over the years, there have been some epic crossovers, notably the limited edition Space Jam: A New Legacy controller and last year’s Sonic-themed Xbox Series S.
First up for the Barbie collaboration involves Xbox’s open-world racing title Forza Horizon 5. In the coming days, two Barbie-themed cars, namely a Barbie pink 956 Chevrolet Corvette EV and Ken’s silver 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup, will be available for all players to grab for free from Forza Horizon 5’s in-game message centre.
But if you aren’t a racing game fan, don’t fear. The collaboration includes a special edition Xbox console and controller as well. The controller in question has a hot pink Barbie theme with four interchangeable faceplates, each with a unique design based on outfits from the upcoming Barbie film.
The cherry on the cake for this collaboration is the new Barbie-themed Xbox Series S console, built into a triple-tiered, fully furnished Barbie DreamHouse. The console sits horizontally at the bottom of the Barbie house, with a pool at the back.
The Barbie Xbox collaboration is the most eye-catching yet and marks the first time that Xbox has released its official Xbox controller faceplates. It’s also the first time an Xbox controller has been built into a collectable structure. Hopefully, this is something Xbox continues to do with other crossovers in the future.
Gamers interested in trying to snack up the controller and console for themselves will need to watch Microsoft Rewards and Xbox’s Twitter on the 10th of July when the sweepstakes go live.
