Meta Quest Reveals First Games For PS Plus-Style Service

Everybody’s favourite Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, has announced a brand new subscription service, Meta Quest+, for the Meta VR headsets. Meta Quest+ will allow subscribers to unlock two new games each month at a discounted rate or play them as part of the service.

To launch this service, Meta has already confirmed the two games available in July and August. For those unsure of how this service will operate, it can be thought of as Sony’s PS Plus subscription service.

The service is available for $7.99 or R148 per month; alternatively, gamers can pay $59.99 or R1,112 for an annual subscription.

To promote this new service, Meta is running a special where all those who sign up between now and the 31st of July will receive their first full month for only $1 or R18. If Meta Quest+ sounds like something you’d be interested in, you can follow the link here.

For July, Meta Quest+ subscribers will get access to the following:

Pistol Whip

In 2020, Pistol Whip walked away with the title of VR Game of the Year, and it’s not hard to see why. Pistol Whip is an FPS rhythm game that’s fueled by dynamic tracks, dreamscape visuals, and easy-to-learn, tough to master gunplay.

The game was inspired by iconic action cinema, and players will fight to conquer the leaderboards while shooting to the music.

Pixel Ripped 1995

Pixel Ripped is a nostalgia-fueled virtual reality game-within-a-game set in the year 1995. To restore balance to multiple dimensions, players will need the help of the best gamer from 1995, an unassuming 9-year-old boy.

Pixel Ripped 1995 is a challenging throwback to classic games from the 16 and 32-bit era of games but in VR. Players will find themselves playing through 2D platformers, racing games and even space shooters, all set within nostalgia-inducing environments.

Then in August, players will gain access to Walkabout Mini Golf and Mothergunship: Forge. It’s too early to tell if Meta Quest+ will be the PlayStation Plus of the VR world, but that’s why we want to know from you. What do you think about this latest subscription service?
