Battlebit: Remastered – If Battlefield and Roblox had a Baby

If there’s one thing I think Battlefield got right in its early stages, it was the massive scale of things. It gave you the feeling of being in a war, and not many multiplayer games have been able to achieve that since, until Battlebit: Remastered.

In an epic 127 vs 127 online shooter Battlebit: Remastered has taken the scale of games like Battlefield and combined it with a few things gamers love to create a smash hit; I mean, you don’t get to number 2 on the Steam Sales chart for nothing.

The devs have combined a low-poly look with massive maps where players can take land, sea and air vehicles to combat the enemy team. Buildings will fall, choppers will explode, and bullets will whizz as you push through with your team, hopefully behind you.

There are six in-game classes, which creates a good need for teamwork; The Squad Leader can ping objectives, carries a little bit of extra gear, and, while not yet implemented, will be in charge of calling in air strikes and remote combat support. The Assault class is your default class, strapped with an assault rifle and some traversal equipment, like a grappling hook. This class is for those who like to push. The Medic is exactly that, the medic. They have quicker bandage times and can supply the rest of the squad with healing when needed. The Engineer will be the class you pick if you’re into fixing up your squad vehicles or, as we probably all prefer, using your RPG to take down the enemy, whether behind a wall or inside a tank. The Support class is the big boy, sitting behind the squad, ensuring they all had their lunch. Building support barriers or supplying the squad with extra ammo and explosives is your primary role. Recon players will be kitted out with a sniper rifle and a pistol. You know what to do here, one-shot kills to the head and shining your reflective scope to the enemy so we all know where to go to get knife kills.

The game looks like a boatload of fun, and the devs are putting in the effort to include a lot more than just “run-around-and-shoot” mechanics. For only R210 in the Steam Store, the game is practically a steal and there are no micro-transactions, so once you’ve got it, you’ve got it.
