According to an email sent out to its employees at Google, YouTube is testing out a new game-streaming product called ‘Playables’.
As The Wall Street Journal reported, Playables will allow people to play games directly from the streaming platform via a browser or the mobile application.
The only game that was mentioned was ‘Stack Bounce’, an endless game in which you smash colourful bricks with a bouncing ball.
If your memory is somewhat ok, you’d remember that Google just closed their previous game streaming platform Stadia in 2022. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t getting the numbers that Google thought it would. Perhaps it was just a little too soon for Stadia, game streaming has all the markers to become an actual crowd favourite thing.
YouTube hopes its large number of viewers will drive the new product into something successful. Still, it’s going to need a little more than addictive mobile games that I always download, play for 5 minutes, regret my decision and delete.
Would you play games on YouTube if they gave you the opportunity? Let us know in the comments below.
