Oh no, I wasn’t ready to type this piece up, but it is my sworn duty to let you all know; Intel has listed a Product Change Notification for the A770, and it’s listed as “Product Discontinuance”.
When I first saw the A750 and A770 being talked about, I was pretty excited to see a well-priced GPU being slotted into the market and that the GPU was capable enough to stand on its own two legs, even if it was still a baby. We’ve had the A750 come through the office already, and considering how well it did I was keen to see how well the A770 would do being the bigger, more powerful card. Now, I’m forced to read the bad news that Intel will no longer be making the A770 themselves.
There is some hope, though. AIBs, or Add in Boards, are still being produced. These are boards that will be produced by companies other than Intel, such as MSI or Acer, and both 8GB and 16GB options will still be available.

So it’s not a complete death for the A770, but the sleek, sexy and discreet LE version that was going to come out of Intel has retired before I even got to see it in action. It’s always a sad day when the flagship model has to be brought back into the docks, but hopefully, this doesn’t mean bad news for the Intel GPU as a whole; only time will tell.
Battlemage, Intel’s second generation of GPUs, is still being worked on, and we should start seeing news of these early next year. Until then, if you were looking for an Intel A770 Limited Edition, you’d better grab it because the ones that are out there are the last of them.
