Sad news for those wanting to see E3 events back to their former glory after this year’s cancellation; it now seems like the Entertainment Software Association may have already pulled the plug on the 2024 and 2025 editions of the formally great E3 event.
The Electronic Entertainment Expo has been on a slow decline over the last decade, thanks to many big published shifting towards hosting their own events throughout the year instead of waiting for E3 to reveal their announcements.
Then in 2021, the event moved to an online-only experience which failed to leave a mark for either consumers or exhibitors but with many still holding out hope that E3 2023 would be the event that put the convention back on the map, and it might have if it hadn’t been cancelled late in March due to a lack of interest from publishers.
Now, it seems, the next two annual events have already been scratched. The evidence for the cancellation stems from a sales briefing hosted by the Los Angeles City Tourism Board of Commissioners that outright states that E3 for 2024 and 2025 has been cancelled.

As of now, E3 themselves have yet to comment on this, and it also doesn’t mean that E3 won’t try to go the virtual event route again; it just means that E3 won’t be using one of the publicly-owned Los Angeles Convention Centers to host its event over the following two years.
Thankfully, many new conventions have popped up to fill the hole of E3, namely Summer Game Fest, an event that has already been confirmed for 2024.
What do you think about E3 not having in-person conventions for the next few years? Will the event ever be able to return to its former glory? Let us know in the comments.
