Nostalgia is as seductive as a toasted marshmallow hot chocolate warming up your hands on a cold winter’s day.
Mattel has managed to hit the nail right on the head with the Hot Wheels Unleashed game by combining an epic arcade racing game and the toy cars of our past, and they’ve decided to keep hitting that nail with Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged.
In the upcoming sequel, Milestone has promised us over 130 vehicles to race in 5 new environments, an upgraded track maker and a custom sticker maker in the livery creator that will allow players to share their killer decals with the world.
We will also have access to a new story-driven campaign mode featuring original characters, fully animated cut-scenes, and two new skills to help us take the gold for each race; double jump and lateral dash.
Double jump will give racers the ability to magically bounce off the air bubble that does not exist to reach new heights, access secret areas or dodge other cars on the track, while lateral dash takes a more aggressive approach, allowing you to smash your whole self into the side of your biggest rival, which could lead to a very dramatic, and not accidental, accident.
The game has thrown in motorbikes and ATVs for us to play with this time, as the five new environments will feature various tracks that will affect how your vehicle drives — ever tried to push a Hot Wheel through grass? Well, you’re about to learn how.
October 19th is my birthday, but more exciting is the fact that Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged will be released on that day on all platforms.
