What would morning news be without some controversy to start the ball rolling? On the proverbial chopping block today is Overwatch 2, which just announced it would charge players $15 or R280 for permanent access to the game’s story missions.
When Overwatch 2 was first announced, one of the core selling points that set this game apart from its predecessor was including a fully fleshed-out PvE mode.
However, Blizzard pivoted on these promises since the game was released, even going as far as to cancel Hero Mode, which promised to allow players to upgrade their heroes through dedicated skill trees.
The Overwatch 2 community was devastated by this change of heart. Still, the one thing that remained for fans to get excited about was the upcoming Story missions, which Blizzard had confirmed would be heading to the game with the Season 6 update.
#Overwatch2: Invasion is coming August 10.

One of the lingering questions surrounding these missions was if they would be seasonal or permanent, a question Blizzard has now answered by announcing that the missions would be permanent additions, just as long as players are willing to pay.
The first missions will be dropped in a batch of three and will take place across Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Gothenburg. Blizzard has promised massive maps with complex objectives and in-depth storylines. Players will face off against the villainous Null Sector group, with the story continuing in future seasons of the game.
In a nutshell, this means that players who start playing the story a few seasons after the first drop won’t be able to go back and experience the whole story unless they’re willing to buy the Invasion Bundle for $15, which will unlock permanent access to the previous batch of story missions.
