One of Ubisoft’s most surprising yet welcomed announcements during the Xbox Games Showcase was the unveiling of a new open-world Star Wars project, Star Wars Outlaws.
From what we know about the game so far, players will be taking on the role of Kay Vess as she tackles a heist given to her by a character named Jalen. The game appears to occur between the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi amid Syndicate-controlled space, with the ever-present threat of the Empire looming.
Players will spend their time in-game exploring many iconic and some new planets. From the released trailer, we know that Kay will have a creature companion that is equal parts cute and helpful and that she can issue orders to during the gameplay.
So far, Ubisoft has managed to nail the essence of Star Wars in the trailer for this open-world title. Time will still tell how heavily players’ choices will play into the game and shape the world or if it will be more of an on-rails type experience.
Star Wars Outlaws is set to release sometime in 2024, and I can’t wait to hear and see more of the game as development progresses.
