Time To Get Your Sea Legs, Monkey Island Is Coming To Sea Of Thieves

I’ve spoken about the unbridled joy received when two worlds collide. Still, nothing could have prepared me for perhaps the most brilliant crossovers of recent memory. During last night’s Xbox Games Showcase, Rare and Lucasfilm Games announced a collaboration which will see a new story campaign added to the much-loved multiplayer pirate game Sea of Thieves.

The upcoming campaign will be based on Monkey Island, one of the best point-and-click adventure franchises around. This collaboration is hardly a first for Sea of Thieves, which has added content from franchises like Gears of War, Banjo-Kazooie, and Ori over the last few years and a free expansion centred around Pirates of the Caribbean.

In the collaboration between Sea of Thieves and Monkey Island, fans can expect to stumble onto Melle Island and explore the Scum Bar while interacting with many franchise regulars like Guybrush Threepwood and LeChuck.

In the released trailer, we see Guybrush Threepwood acting as Mayor. LeChuck has turned the island’s memories into a prison, leading many to believe they will likely face off against the longtime villain in the crossover.

The Monkey Island crossover will be free for players, and those eager to jump in don’t have long to wait before the Sea of Thieves x Monkey Island event, which will begin on the 20th of July.
