This just in, a brand new Jumanji game has been announced, and if you think that a Jumanji game is the last thing that 2023 needs, don’t worry – it’s a game based on the new movie franchise and not the sudo horror that was the Robin Williams-led original.
The latest entry into the Jumanji franchise is Jumanji: Wild Adventures, and not only will it be heading our way on the 3rd of November, making it the perfect holiday season binge, but it’s also an entire co-op game – like every good Jumanji game should be.
The trailer released this morning shows the new franchise’s characters doing what they do best: running, jumping and fighting, all while trying to stay alive.
Now I’d be lying if I said this new game didn’t catch me off guard. It’s being developed by Cradle Games, the studio responsible for the souls-like sci-fi action RPG Hellpoint, but also, I couldn’t think of a better fit for a Jumanji-themed game.
While not much is known about the game outside of its release date, the trailer has moments that seem inspired by the Crash Bandicoot games of my childhood and segments that look decidedly like an arcade-style top-down beat-em-up mixed with a 2D platformer.
Fans of the film franchise could also use this game announcement as an indicator that the next Jumanji film is on the horizon as well because it seems unlikely that a new Jumanji game, so tied to the film franchise, would be heading our way without a new movie to back it up,
Jumanji: Wild Adventures will be released on the 3rd of November and has been confirmed to be coming to PC; PlayStation 4; PlayStation 5; Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
