One of my favourite parts about new game releases is being in awe of how much better some gamers are than me. While my skill bar may not be the highest, the things other gamers seem able to pull off are just next level.
In today’s dose of but-how-is-that-even-possible, a Diablo 4 player has already managed to hit the maximum level cap of 100 in the new game, and the epic moment was caught live on his YouTube and Twitch streams.
For many gamers, Diablo 4 isn’t even out yet, with an official release date of the 6th of June, but players who managed to sell enough of their blood to pre-order the game’s special editions have already been playing and levelling their characters.
According to Blizzard, it should take players roughly 150 hours of playtime to hit level 100 in Diablo 4. Yet, the player in question could pull off the impressive stunt in only a third of that time.
Rob2628 is a YouTuber and Twitch streamer who reached level 100 after grinding around 54 hours over three days. This was pulled off by using a Barbarian build, focusing on the shout and whirlwind skills, and taking advantage of a known exploit.
How the exploit worked is that a group of players entered a dungeon, cleared the dungeon, and then the lead players would level the group, forcing a full dungeon reset – letting players raid it repeatedly.
Using this exploit, Rob2628 and his friends just repeated the Champions Demise dungeon over and over before Blizzard could roll out a patch to stop the exploit and take his character right up to the maximum level.
It’s worth noting that while Rob2628’s achievement is undoubtedly impressive, exploit or not, he wasn’t playing the game in Hardcore Mode, which leaves that achievement still up for the taking.
Blizzard has announced that it is running an official contest regarding reaching the maximum level in Hardcore mode, and the first 1,000 players to achieve this milestone will have their usernames engraved on a physical statue of Lilith.
