Optimus Prime, Protecting our Homes and Fortnite

As our avid Fortnite players will know, on the 9th of June, Season 3 will be going live, and, like a crew of hired investigative journalists, the internet hath delivered for us a bunch of “leaked” content that gamers can look forward to.

Of course, the leak is not confirmed, but these guys are pretty accurate with getting these things right.

Notorious leaker HypeX tweeted a handy bullet point list of what has already been leaked.

Most notably, the loading screen of Father Nature himself, Optimus Prime. (I promise, he runs on environmentally friendly diesel or sunflower oil). To help prove that the content leaked will actually be in-game is that the new Transformers movie, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, also comes out on the 9th of June. Seems like more than a coincidence to me.

The tweet also shows off a new tropical biome, with a desert and a volcanic area, two other skins that are less prime than Optimus himself and the ability to ride raptors. Not sure if these will be robotic raptors yet, but I can very quickly see a 50v50 raptor battle becoming a new mode.

Perhaps you’re not that into Fortnite, but you still love our trucker hero. Well, I have the sickest piece of tech to show you.

Robosen Robotics, who have already created an awesome set of entirely autonomous Transformers, have got a special Rise of the Beasts edition of Optimus Prime lined up and ready for sale.
Stacked with over 21 servo motors, 69 custom-engineered microchips and over 40 different actions, the Optimus Prime Signature Edition deserves a trophy spot in a collectors cabinet. The robot is controllable via voice, app, or manually programmed actions that you can create on the Robosen app. Robosen also managed to get Peter Cullen, the original 1980s voice actor to create the dialogue for the Signature Edition Prime. The robot is currently on offer for a special pre-order price of $699 (or around R14,000). Its usual price is set to $899, and I can easily see a few fans picking this fantastic piece of tech up.

Until the 9th, you’d better be oiling up your joints and buffing up your chrome ‘cuz we’ve got some Decepticons to destroy.
