Ubisoft Provides An Update In Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake

Ubisoft has decided to provide an update on the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake. We’re warning you; it’s not a good one and not the update fans of the franchise were hoping for.

Prince of Persia used to be a solid, could do no wrong franchise, so when Ubisoft originally announced that they were working on a remake of The Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, fans were understandably delighted.

This was also right around the time when many game studios were starting to remake some of their older titles, and these remakes were impressive, to say the least. Then in September 2020, fans got to see what this Prince of Persia remake would look like, and the reception was… not good… to put it mildly.

Many fans were distraught at how underwhelming the remake looked graphically, which prompted the developers to come out and reassure fans that they were only seeing a first draft and that the actual game would look much better. However, that was the beginning and the end of the remake. Everything started taking a drastic turn for the worst after that.

First, the game was struck with delay after delay; then, the reports surfaced that the game was stuck in development hell – never a good sign. And then, the game was moved to Ubisoft Montreal, where it was put into an infinite state of delay.

Now thanks to an update on the game on the official Ubisoft website, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake’s game director, Michael McIntyre, and producer, Jean-Francois Naud, had this to say:

“We’re in conception right now. Since we took over the project we’ve been looking at feedback from the community and finding our own way of delivering the game. Now, we’re building up the team, defining the priorities, putting prototypes together, testing elements, and looking at how we can include community feedback in the development as well.”

The two also stressed that no further updates concerning the game would occur within the following year. Over the last 12 months, Ubisoft has been shelving multiple projects to shift focus to a few core ones, so any news that’s not a cancellation is good news regarding this project.
