If there are two things that are synonymous with 90’s kids, it’s got to be Skateboarding and Pokémon. Yes, I completely suck pokéballs at skateboarding myself, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love the custom decks that you can get out there.
Bear Walker, a US based custom board maker, just recently launched a Pikachu series and with it’s overwhelming success have teamed up with Pokémon Center UK to create the Johto Starter series.
The Johto Starter series will be exclusively sold at UK Pokémon Centers, so you’ll need to get on that connection train and find out who you know up there that can hook you up, but in my quest to find said connection, I saw that there are other Pokémon sets that are also available in the US.
It does mean that we might have to use some sort of shipping forwarder, but hey, a sick-looking deck is a sick-looking deck, and I feel like Christmas in July is about to become a reality.
Each of the Pokémon boards features maple wood engravings and details specific to the Pokémon on the deck; they also include a decorative card indicating the board number, as these are all limited editions, and a set of wall mounts. Bear Walker assures that the board is fully functional, with matching Pokémon Center wheels and trucks and a textured surface for a sturdy grip, but these decks look like wall decks to me, they’re just too pretty to stand on.
If you want to start an Amazon Global Shopper group to grab a few of these, hit me up in the DMs.
