Ticket To Ride Is Getting An Exciting New Edition

Ask anyone who plays board games, and no, I’m not talking about Monopoly or Scrabble, which game got them into the hobby, and chances are they’re going to tell you Ticket to Ride. For many of us, it’s a beloved, decades-old classic and the gateway into the devastatingly expensive hobby.

First released back in 2004, which is an entire lifetime ago at this point, Ticket to Ride is a strategy game all about building train lines to connect different regions of the world. Since its release, the game has seen multiple versions, expansions, and even digital versions on PC and mobile.

But now, thanks to a video uploaded on Ticket to Ride’s Instagram page, the game will soon receive yet another version with some pretty exciting names attached.

In the trailer for the game, there is a shot that includes the names of the people working on this version of the beloved game. These names include Alan R. Moon, the original designer of the game, Rob Daviau, and Matt Leacock.

Let me explain for those who aren’t so heavy in the hobby and still have money in their bank account because of it. Rob Daviau is widely known as the father of legacy-style games in the board gaming world. He is known for Risk: Legacy, which took your dad’s favourite game and added an overarching story, evolving world, and full champagne.

Rob Daviau then teamed up with Matt Leacock, the creator of Pandemic. Together they created Pandemic Legacy – a game widely considered the best Legacy game ever made.

So seeing the names Rob Daviau and Matt Leacock attached to Ticket to Ride can only mean one thing, a legacy version of Ticket to Ride is on its way. It also means I’m about to be even more broke than I am when I’m forced to add it to my collection because how could I not?

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a train game calling my name…
