Everyone here can agree that it’s always a good day when companies remove some restrictions that keep people from using and enjoying their products. Just recently, we’ve seen how successful posting PlayStation games to PC has been for Sony, and now we’re seeing Sony break down even more barriers.
Today we’re talking about the Backbone One. For those who missed it, the Backbone One was released in July of 2022, and it worked as a mobile gaming controller but only for iPhone users. The Backbone One allowed PlayStation players who enjoy using Remote Play to live their best and most comfortable lives. The controller was wildly praised across the industry.
Sony and Backbone have opened the door to even more gamers by releasing the Backbone One PlayStation Edition for Android. This means that Andriod users can now also use their Android phone as a handheld gaming console with PlayStation Remote Play.
Introducing Backbone One – PlayStation Edition, an officially licensed mobile controller for Android users, launching today.

The controller is called the Backbone One for Android PlayStation Edition and can only be purchased directly from the Blackbone site by following the link here. The controller sells for $99.99 or R1,920 and comes in a similar colour scheme to the PlayStation 5 controller.
The controller is officially licensed, and its button layout matches the PlayStation setup. One of the new features of the Android version of the controller is the ability to fast charge your phone, thanks to a pass-through USB-C port on the controller itself.
The controller also comes with the free Backbone app that allows users to re-map all the buttons on their controller.
