The SSA Rocket League Spring Open just concluded on Sunday, 14 May. This is the 7th of 9 regional tournaments in the Rocket League 2022-23 season.
Limitless was once again crowned regional champions for the 6th time, having lost only one tournament this entire season.
With the victory, they have secured their place in the Wildcard Tournament at the Rocket League Championship Series finals in Dusseldorf, Germany, which kicks off on the 3rd of August 2023.
The team, comprising Gareth “Snowyy” Spiers, Ethan “Darth” Deysel and David “2Die4” Morgenrood, are considered the region’s “super team” with the best chance of a respectable showing on the world stage.
This roster was picked up early in the season by American-based esport organisation, Limitless. Co-founder “BigSyn” remarked, “It’s a crazy feeling and hard to explain, but I’ll never forget we were at Worlds last year as spectators and kept telling ourselves that we’d be on this stage next year. Unreal feeling to accomplish that goal.”
Team captain, Snowyy said, “Securing our place mathematically means nothing to us; we always knew we would be going. There are two regionals left, and our team takes winning very seriously, our focus will be pushing our level to the highest it can be over the next four weeks to close out the season victorious. We’ll then turn our attention to preparation for Worlds.”
All three players will be making their 2nd appearance at Worlds after their teams qualified last season for the tournament in Dallas, USA. The experience will come in handy for their second visit. “We have a better understanding of the skill gap between our region and the others. With that knowledge, we know how much work the team has to do to improve on our results from last year”, says 2Die4.

It has been remarkable that these three players have been at the very top of the game in the region over such a long period of time. It can be difficult maintaining enough motivation to consistently keep ahead of the growing skilled player base in the region, but Darth says, “The thought of losing and maintaining the feeling of winning is our biggest motivator to keep improving. Our loss in the 6th regional was such a disappointment, and it almost felt like we erased the five previous wins. But most of all, we want to give SSA the best representation possible on the big stage!”
With the number one spot secured it still leaves one remaining place for another SSA team at Worlds. And it’s a dogfight for that spot. At the close of the 7th regional, there are four teams with a chance to secure that spot: Orlando Pirates, Nixuh, White Rabbit Gaming and French Class are all within 10 points of each other. Every game in the remaining two regionals will be significant, with pressure mounting with each result. This is in addition to the $20,000 prize pool per regional.
It’s going to a close finish for what has been the best Rocket League season the region has ever had.
The next regional kicks off on 26 May and will be broadcast on www.twitch.tv/ACGL_ALPHA.
