I will announce it now before someone challenges me to a duel, and I’m forced to buy them lunch because I lost. I suck at fighting games. I can face-roll myself out of a few fights, but when I go up against someone who knows all the combos of every character, when to block and when to counter and how pressing X, X, X next to this specific chandelier will summon a mighty dragon, I’m going to lose. In saying that, I have had the most luck with Tekken, somehow, Tekken appreciates my face-roll technique and allows me to get in a good couple of wins, especially if I manage to pick Ling Xiaoyu.
Luckily, Ling will be in the latest Tekken instalment, Tekken 8. Fighting in, on and around Ling will also be Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, Jun Kazama, Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, Jack-8, King, Lars Alexandersson, Nina Williams, Leroy Smith, Asuka Kazama, Emilie “Lili” De Rochefort and, most recently announced, the ever popular Hwoarang.
In their latest gameplay trailer, Bandai Namco reveals that Hwoarang will be returning to the game, as he should. A popular pick since his first appearance in Tekken 3, 27 whole years ago, Hwoarang kick-slaps his way into Tekken 8 with an updated look, but still as fiery and chirpy as ever.
With no official release date on the table just yet, I guess we’ll just have to keep waiting for Bandai to announce each fighter until they’ve officially decided.
