A new update from Team Cherry, the team behind Hollow Knight: Silksong, has been shared on Twitter, and for many fans of the game that have been patiently waiting for the sequel, this is probably not the update they’ve been waiting for.
Since the sequel to the award-winning indie title Hollow Knight was announced in 2019, fans have had some pretty high expectations – to put it mildly. However, Team Cherry has been super tight-lipped when it comes to the game, even going as far as to offer no new update during the most recent Nintendo Indie World Showcase.
This silence has led to online whispers that the game might not be coming out. This is probably why Matthew Griffin, responsible for all the PR and marketing for Team Cherry, took to Twitter to directly communicate with the community about the future of the much-anticipated game.
Hey gang, just a quick update about Silksong.
We had planned to release in the 1st half of 2023, but development is still continuing. We're excited by how the game is shaping up, and it's gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can.
Expect…

According to the Tweet, Hollow Knight: Silksong is still in development, and the game has grown substantially since the team started working on it.
Unfortunately, no announcement concerning a potential release window has been made for those eagerly waiting for Hollow Knight: Silksong to release. However, despite the developers being unwilling to set an end date, the online reaction was overwhelmingly positive. Many praised the developers for taking their time to ensure that the quality of the game is upheld and that those working on the game put themselves first.
Matthew Griffin did say that he would be sharing more details about Hollow Knight: Silksong as development continues and the game gets closer to release.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
