A Nintendo Leaker Claims Four New Mario Games Are On The Way

I feel like it’s been a while since we’ve had a good ol’ juicy rumour to get excited about, but also, this is the gaming world, and we all knew it would only be quiet for a while. In today’s dose of believe-it-but-also-probably-don’t, Nintendo has up to four Super Mario games in the works.

Now if we dissect this rumour a little, the four games are one new main series entry, a couple of spinoffs, and more, which would probably mean re-releases of older titles. This rumour didn’t exactly pop up out of nowhere either; thanks to the monumental success of the Super Mario Bros. Movie, which has already surpassed the $1 billion box office mark, fans are undoubtedly hungry for more.

Luckily for fans, if the rumours turn out to be accurate, there will be our Mario-centric games in the pipeline. This rumour was given life when Nintendo leaker Zippo claimed that Nintendo has four finished games starring Mario, including a new 2D Super Mario game, a sports title, a remaster of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, and a new entry in the long-running Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games franchise.

Realistically, even if this is true, Nintendo will likely wait to announce any of these games until their next Nintendo Direct, which seems unlikely to happen before September.

What do you make of these rumours? Personally, I don’t think Nintendo would commit to four new big titles before announcing the next version of the Nintendo Switch, but that’s just me. Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
