Nintendo Jokes With Leaker About Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, And Leaker Runs In Fear

When it comes to gaming, one company has set itself aside as the sort of Mafia of our community. That company is, you called it, Nintendo.

I don’t need to explain their antics to anyone who follows gaming news, and to anyone who doesn’t, I’m not sure there are enough words.

Just know that you don’t want to mess with them unless you want to live the rest of your life paying Nintendo up to 30% of your monthly salary.

Now when The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom leaked online, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t instantly feel sorry for the poor naive fools who did the leaking and have no idea what’s coming for them. And in an amusing turn of events, Nintendo is all too aware of its mob-like reputation and is more than happy to play into it.

Late last night, the CEO of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime, took to playfully Twitter to roast a Tears of the Kingdom leaker for their behaviour, much like you’d expect from an actual mobster right before he swings the crowbar and breaks both of your knees.

When a Twitter user posted a picture of their Nintendo Switch home screen showing an early copy of Tears of the Kingdom in their library, no one thought much of it – especially as nothing in the picture spoiled the game in any which way.

However, it wasn’t long before Reggie Fils-Aime found the picture ad decided to quote Liam Neeson when he wrote, “I don’t know what you want. What I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career, skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.”

If anyone else from any other gaming company had written this, it would have been received as a light-hearted joke. However, this is Nintendo, and we all know they never joke. The veiled threat was fully recognised and received by the original poster, who didn’t just delete the picture but their entire account as well.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom launches exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on the 12th of May. Will you be playing it? Let us know in the comments below.
