The fires at the Riot Forge must be using some type of super coal (Eskom please contact them) because they are churning out games like there’s no tomorrow. Just recently, Mage Seeker was released, which follows Sylas in the League of Legends universe, and now, almost out of the blue, Riot Forge has released a neat little trailer for Convergence.
Convergence was initially announced back in 2019 alongside The Ruined King, one of the first spin-offs from the LoL game, but since then, we haven’t heard much more about it. That was until February this year when Riot Forge gave us a little taste of what they had planned for 2023.
Convergence follows the story of Ekko, “The boy who shattered time”, and his friends as they attempt to keep the underground city of Zaun a safe place to live. If you’ve watched any of the Arcane series, you would already have had a little taste of what Zaun is like and how much of a struggle it would be to “keep it safe”.
With Ekko being the main character in the game this means that the player will have the ability to rewind time to pull off some crazy stunts, whether in battle against some of the other champions of LoL or if you’re just needing to save your own butt from missing that double jump to the next platform.
The game will feature a vibrant 2D platformer world where you can explore the city of Zaun, play through Ekko’s story and face off against other champions such as Warwick, Camille and the ever-infamous Jinx.
The game drops on May 23rd for all platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, and to tide you over, the developers Double Stallion have given us a story trailer to enjoy.
