It seems like an entire lifetime ago that developer Firaxis Games released Marvel’s Midnight Suns for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Still, in reality, the game was only released back in December. Crazy.
Since its release, the developers have promised that a version of the game for the Nintendo Switch is in the works and not to be the bearer of bad news, but that port has just been cancelled.
As of this morning, Marvel’s Midnight Suns will only be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the Switch version not even being delayed but wholly scrapped.
Judging from the communities online reaction, this is a devastating blow for Switch players eagerly anticipating playing Marvel’s Midnight Suns and utilising much of the Switch’s tech to create a super immersive handheld experience.
However, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are still in the works. They will both launch on the 11th of May alongside Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ Blood Storm DLC, which will introduce Storm from the X-Men into the game.
As of now, Firaxis and 2K Games have remained tightlipped about their decision to drop the Nintendo Switch version of the game, but it probably comes down to the Switch running on dated tech and not having the power to run more resource-hungry titles, which also calls into question Microsoft’s claims that they will bring Call of Duty to the platform.
